Join the“Shared micro depot for urban pickup and delivery” stakeholder event

Event details

Join in on our online event of the EIT UM project S.M.U.D. that brings together stakeholders already involved or interested in participating in shared micro depot solutions for urban pickup and delivery. The event will take place on 2 December fully online.

Shared micro depots provide a publicly attractive solution to last mile delivery that will be operated for the benefit of urban residents, cities and businesses.

Discuss with us experiences made in the implementation testbeds in Helsinki and Helmond and steps during the implementation process for shared micro depots.

We would like to interact with stakeholders from cities – e.g. administration, policy makers, citizens – as well as businesses – e.g. logistics service providers, shippers, web-shops.

The project “Shared micro depots for urban pickup and delivery” (S.M.U.D.)

Urban space is limited and diminishing even more each year. For logistics service providers, retailers, and even urban residents, the last mile of goods further exacerbates the congestion of these urban spaces. The project addressed today’s inefficient space use and pollution prevention approaches.

The S.M.U.D. implementation process was evaluated within two testbeds in the cities of Helmond (NL) and Helsinki (FI). Local stakeholders participated in the testbeds to discuss requirements, drafted concepts and possible solutions and services with the project partners.

Additional support for future micro depots was developed by means of an implementation roadmap as well as a toolbox with a wide range of solutions and best practices regarding, for example, location planning and selection, functional and architectural design and business models offering services for B2B, B2C as well as C2C.
