Micromobility and the Green Deal: a maturing industry fit to tackle local and global challenges?

Event details

At a time when the European Commission will be assessing Member States’ Recovery and Resilience Plans made to build forward better our economy and ahead of the release of the “Fit-for-55” package, this online event has been the occasion to debate about the challenges, opportunities and necessary conditions such as in terms of EU policy, governance, and innovation, for micromobility to be firmly anchored in a forward-looking and Green Deal-aligned urban mobility landscape

The 100+ participants had the chance to hear the views of Ciarán Cuffe (Member of ITRE and TRAN Committees of the European Parliament) and Matthew Baldwin (Deputy Director-General of DG MOVE, European Commission) on the role of micromobility in achieving climate neutrality by 2050, and on the upcoming EU initiatives that could facilitate the deployment of such mobility solutions.

After these two keynote speeches, a moderated panel discussion took place between Catriona Meehan from Micro-Mobility for Europe (a newly established trade association representing the main micromobility operators in Europe), Thomas Lymes from Eurocities (the network of major European cities), Lluis Puerto from EIT Urban Mobility, Jennifer Dungs from EIT InnoEnergy and Shiva Dustdar from European Investment Bank.
