Committed to our mission of accelerating positive change on mobility to make urban spaces more liveable, EIT Urban Mobility is actively participating at SUM’21 Bilbao. The event aims to foster dialogue and collaboration between stakeholders with action and decision-making capacity in the public and private sectors, emphasising the business sector’s technological capabilities and innovative solutions to respond to sustainable urban mobility challenges in Europe and Latin America.
On day one, EIT Urban Mobility Head of City Club Florinda Boschetti will share her knowledge in the “Public-Private Funding and Alliances” session. During this session, speakers will discuss the role of public-private investments and alliances as a driving force to boost innovative projects that address the challenges raised by sustainable mobility whilst generating business opportunities and economic development.
In the afternoon, Gareth MacNaughton, EIT Urban Mobility Innovation Director, will interview Saki Gerassis, Policy and Data Officer at European Commission, DG MOVE , in the session “Sustainable and Accessible Mobility Strategy“. During this session, the new strategy for sustainable and smart mobility of the European Commission will be discussed in detail.
In addition, during the event, EIT Urban Mobility will sign the “Declaración de Bilbao“, an agreement where we pledge to enter ten commitments in favour of sustainable urban mobility in line with the New Urban Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
