PANEL DISCUSSION
Title: Decarbonising urban mobility and transport: How can Baltic cities become climate-neutral by 2030?
Description: Five cities in the Baltics have joined the EU mission for 100 climate-neutral and smart cities by 2030, also known as the Cities Mission. But how do Vilnius, Tauragé, Riga, Liepāja and Tartu plan to become climate-neutral by 2030?
Urban mobility and transport remain a wicked problem that accounts for at least
40% of all CO2 emissions from road transport and up to
70% of other pollutants from transport. Europe’s green urban transition will depend largely on cities’ ability to transform and decarbonise their mobility and transport systems – from improving walking, cycling, and public transport to electrifying private vehicles and making last-mile logistics more efficient.
How can Vilnius, Tauragé, Riga, Liepāja and Tartu become leaders of the climate transition? How can they innovate, collaborate, and share experiences to quickly decarbonise urban mobility and reach the 2030 objectives? Join us for an inspiring panel discussion with Mayors, Deputy Mayors and high-level representatives from the Baltic mission cities.
Panel discussion:
- Moderator: Anders Bengtsson, Head of Innovation Hub North at EIT Urban Mobility
- Dovydas Kaminskas, Mayor of Tauragé
- Andrius Grigonis, Vice-Mayor of Vilnius
- Inese Andersone, Head of City Development Committee of Riga City Council
- Eva Killer, Head of Mobility Development and Investments Department at the Estonian Ministry of Climate
When: 11.40-12.40 on Friday 24 November
