Forum: Challenges of Artificial Intelligence

Event details

We are currently witnessing a radical change in the way we move around and how goods are transported globally. Artificial intelligence (AI) is playing a crucial role in this transformation, from autonomous vehicles to intelligent traffic management systems.

Of particular interest is the concept of the “last mile.” This stage, which encompasses the final leg of delivering goods or services to consumers, has traditionally been a critical point in the logistics chain, especially regarding issues such as returns, failed deliveries, or reducing carbon footprint. However, with the evolution of AI and technology, we are seeing a shift in how it is approached and optimized.

In the roundtable discussion “How AI has the potential to transform mobility,” organized by DISRUPTORS and UCJC, we will explore how AI is transforming the last mile distribution, both in goods delivery and service provision. From the use of autonomous vehicles, drones, and robots to route optimization algorithms and incident resolution, AI is redefining efficiency, sustainability, tracking, and delivery methods in this final stage of the logistics chain.

Eduardo Mascarenhas, our EIT AI Community officer will be part of this discussion together with other important actors of the field.
