The first New Horizons Summit – Sustainable Economy and Innovation will take place on 11 October 2024 in Prague. Notably, the event is organised by the Czech Chamber of Commerce, Živnostník roku, EIT Urban Mobility, Forum for Sustainable Mobility, Pražský inovační institut, CzechInvest under the auspices of the Government of the Czech Republic and Representation of the European Commission in the Czech Republic.
The in-person event aims to support sustainability and facilitate the exchange of information from successful projects and innovations in the Czech Republic. Moreover, the New Horizons Summit will support the search for synergies and cooperation between various stakeholders. Ultimately, this collaboration will bring together representatives of public administration, the business sector, venture capital funds, innovative startups and the academic community.
New Horizons Summit: what’s on the table
The event programme includes expert discussion panels with the participation of representatives of public administration, business and the academic community. Specifically, there will be three panels and two fireside chats, which will together all the key points of the innovative and circular economy in the CEE region, financial tools for startups, the future of urban mobility and more.
- Vision for Innovative Economy of Tomorrow in CEE region. This panel will explore the future of the Central and Eastern European region as a hub for innovation. In particular, the discussion will cover key trends that are shaping the economic landscape of the region. These key trends include digital transformation, sustainability and cross-border collaboration.
- Empowering Growth: Financing Tools for Startups and Innovators. In today’s realities, access to capital is crucial for startups and innovators seeking to turn their ideas into reality. This panel will explore the diverse financing tools and strategies available to support the growth of early-stage companies.
- The Future of Urban Mobility . As the urban population continues to grow, cities must evolve to meet the rising pressure on urban mobility. Accordingly, this fireside chat will offer a visionary discussion on the future of urban mobility. It will examine the rise of electric vehicles, shared mobility solutions, autonomous driving and the integration of smart city infrastructure.
- Women changing business: from idea to reality. The discussion will highlight the crucial role women play in driving sustainable business practices. Additionally, panelists will share their experiences and insights on how women are leading initiatives in sustainability, the unique challenges they face, and the opportunities for empowering more women to take on leadership roles in this field.
- Technology Innovation for the Circular Economy . This panel will focus on the role of technological innovation in driving the circular economy. It will highlight cutting-edge solutions that enable waste reduction, resource efficiency and sustainable product lifecycles. Moreover, experts will discuss how advancements and moving towards sustainability in areas such as material science, digital technology and industrial processes are creating new opportunities for businesses to adopt circular practices.
What else to expect at New Horizons Summit
As part of the programme, there will be workshops focused on the latest innovations in the field of sustainability (slow fashion, the recycling of materials, and sustainable mobility) as well as a cultural programme at the end of the event.
