Project summary

The Better Mobility Accelerator is an international six-month accelerator programme for start-ups that are ready to scale up internationally and access a unique network of international mobility, innovation and inclusivity experts across Europe.

The programme offers one-to-one business coaching, mentoring, and workshops. It also offers city match-making to test your solution and facilitates an introduction to test and demonstration labs around Europe.

The main focus is the challenge area “Mobility for all” and therefore the improvement of physical and geographical accessibility for a wide range of target groups, currently often underserved and non-involved passengers as well as vulnerable travellers. The programme follows a holistic approach and catalyses innovation and collaboration alongside sustainable and inclusive mobility. Therefore, the scope of the programme includes the challenge areas Intermodality, Future Mobility, Creating Public Realm as well Active Mobility.

The core themes are:

  • providing access for all
  • ensuring effective and affordable mobility for all
  • improving safety for all
  • securing green mobility for all

Context

The Better Mobility Accelerator supports start-ups in Europe developing inclusive mobility solutions for all, offering mentorship, funding, and networking opportunities.

Challenge

The programme aims to address challenges related to improving intermodal transportation, shaping the future of mobility, enhancing public spaces, and promoting active modes of transportation.

Expected outcome

Access to a network of corporates and investors, business coaching and training, living labs and cities to test solutions. The Better Mobility Accelerator will identify at least 50 quality applicants from across Europe with a range of gender diversity by the end of the two-month open call; will support a minimum of 2 start-ups each year and will recommend 4 start-ups to invest to EIT Urban Mobility.
