Digital Smart Zones

The solution will minimise rogue parking, reduce congestion and optimise space usage by offering real-time insights into the availability of Smart Zone locations

Project summary

With the Coding the Curbs project, Riga and Riga’s Technical University will develop and implement an innovative feature of the Smart Zone solution. The solution will minimise rogue parking, reduce congestion and optimise space usage by offering real-time insights into the availability of Smart Zone locations. As a result of the project, users will be able to  see, reserve and access Smart Zone locations through the digital platform. The Smart Zone solution connects state-of-the-art sensor technology to an improved user-friendly booking application

Project start:

1 June 2024

Budget:

€59,500

Countries

latvia

Context

Our solution directly addresses critical issues in freight transport related to loading and unloading such as congestion, rogue parking, traffic accidents and inefficient space utilisation.

Challenge

The main challenge addressed by the project is that delivery drivers are not aware what locations are available and safe to park. Our solution enables them to see available loading and unloading bays.

Expected outcome

The project will deliver the digital Smart Zone solution, a city data dashboard enriched with advanced data analytics and a commercial model for the new proposition.
