Smart Park & Ride zone only for commuters

Parkunload is a leading smart parking platform to regulate, control and monitor time-limited, restricted and free-of-charge parking zones based on a patented solution with mobile applications and Bluetooth sensors.

In this project, Parkunload aims to further design, develop, deploy and operate Smart Park & Ride zones only for commuters taking public transport to work. The solution aims to guarantee that parked vehicles are from real public transport passengers and to avoid the current misuse of these parking spaces by surrounding residents, visitors or employees.

The solution uses a double validation process of the parking session with either a Bluetooth proximity sensor installed within the train station or an API integration with the public transportation authority. The solution will be tested in two to four Park & Ride facilities, including a parking enforcement service and a big data analytics platform for city, transportation and parking authorities.Parkunload will pilot the new Smart Park & Ride zones only for commuters in the parking facilities near the train station of at least two cities near the Metropolitan area of Barcelona. The pilot will include a new version of the Parkunload app to enhance the validation process, user experience and support.
