ABOUT EIT URBAN MOBILITY
EIT Urban Mobility, supported by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), acts to accelerate positive change on mobility to make urban spaces more liveable.
EIT Urban Mobility is an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). Since January 2019 we have been working to encourage positive changes in the way people move around cities in order to make them more liveable places. We aim to become the largest European initiative transforming urban mobility. Co-funding of up to € 400 million (2020-2026) from the EIT, a body of the European Union, will help make this happen.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibility of the City Demo Officer is to lead agile development and testing of city demos. SMEs/ Start-ups with innovative solutions play a key role to driving modal shift in personal, micro, electric, shared/mass, active mobility, and urban logistics. EIT Urban Mobilty plans to ensure better access for cities to leading innovators with close to market solutions. Cities need help managing the communications and risks around working with innovate early-stage SME/start-ups. The Officer supports our cities and SMEs/Start-ups working together to develop and then test solutions in an agile manner. The officer will set realistic expectations, facilitate cooperation, monitor progress, and troubleshoot for, and between, the cities and the SME/Start-ups. The end objective of our Agile Programme is to test Minimum Viable Product in situ.
The primary focus will be to ensure successful implementation of city demo projects This includes the following tasks:
Working with SME/ Startups and agile innovation
Coordinating in cross functional team (Innovation, Legal, Finance).
Monitoring the SME/Start-ups in their 3–4-month development sprint.
Monitoring monthly progress in city sprints
Ensuring cities provide the agreed upon access to staff, infrastructure, data.
Sitting on selection and assessment panels for new city sprint projects.
Troubleshooting
Co-operating with industry mentors and sponsors
Identifying and flagging high value SME/Start-ups
Embedding innovating thinking within public administration and drive knowledge sharing
Organising and facilitating workshops
KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
At least 3 years of project management (industrial not research)
Worked with agile innovation and SMEs/Start-ups
Understanding of climate change and impact on cities and urban society.
Experience of working with city administrations, private sector organisations and the non- governmental sector.
Work to timelines and financial control and reporting.
Experience from working in a multi-national multi-cultural environment, a European perspective is considered a plus.
Versatile in teamwork on all organizational levels and experience from working in a matrix organization.
Motivation to work in fast-moving, innovative, and sometimes ambiguous environments.
Team player who can work independently.
Organized and structured, pro-active and hands-on
ELIGIBILITY
General Conditions:
By the closing date of this call candidates must:
be a national of an EU Member State or have a working permit valid in Spain;
enjoy their full rights as citizens;
have fulfilled any obligations imposed by national laws concerning military service; and meet the character requirements for the duties involved.
Education:
§ Completed Master’s Degree in Innovation/Business Management, Technology (or similar)3.
§ Written and spoken English (C1) and one additional European language is an advantage.
JOB AND CONTRACT TYPE
Spanish permanent and full-time contract.
LOCATION
Barcelona in EIT Urban Mobility Headquarters.
No relocation expenses are assigned.
Immediate start.
