Request for Proposals: Acceleration services provider for the New European Bauhaus Booster 2.0

By the present procurement procedure, EIT Urban Mobility is aiming to identify a provider to provide acceleration services within the EIT Community New European Bauhaus initiative (hereinafter NEB). The service provider will have to deliver training packages for a total of 20 start-ups and scale-ups on traction and go-to-market strategies and financing aspects.

NEB Booster 2.0 – Strategic focus and programme structure

NEB Booster 2.0 will select start-ups integrating simultaneously the three core values of the NEB in their operations, products and services. Hence, we are expecting start-ups that:

  • Address sustainability in the shape of mitigating or adapting to climate change, supporting sustainable transport, manufacturing and/or agri-food uses, as well as encouraging circular economy.
  • Originate their product or service from social demand responding to the need of a specific social group in a local/regional/national/European context and addressing one or more NEB challenges.
  • Have a designer in the team or provide for aesthetics or quality of experience within the conception of their solution.

The NEB Booster 2.0 programme aims to provide NEB and Business & Entrepreneurship support to those start-ups with a clear concept, product or vision that could benefit from the EIT Community contribution.

The NEB Booster 2.0 training is structured as follows:

Phase 1 – duration: ~ 3 months

Business & Entrepreneurship pillar: Assessment & Analysis:

  • GAP analysis – comparing current performance with desired/expected performance.
  • Acceleration and mentorship planning.
  • Business Model Assessment.

NEB Pillar: NEB core principles and values:

  • Assessment and assignment of NEB mentorship needed.
  • NEB impact analysis.
  • Improvement analysis report.

Communication, networking and events:

  • Cohort kick-off event and networking.
  • Networking session with marketing/branding consultant.
  • External communication – Publications to boost start-up online presence.
  • Invite to NEB and KIC events of season.

Phase 2 – duration: ~ 2 months

Business & Entrepreneurship pillar: Traction and go-to-market strategies:

  • Stakeholders and prospects matching.
  • Go-to-market strategy.
  • Conversion and pipeline strategy.
  • Leadership coaching.
  • Scalability analysis.

NEB Pillar: NEB scalability:

  • Growth for NEB focused initiatives.
  • NEB future trends and initiatives.

Communication, networking and events:

  • Invite to NEB and KIC events of season.     
  • Networking session with stakeholders and prospects.

Phase 3 – duration: ~ 2 months

Business & Entrepreneurship pillar- Financing:

  • Stage-based funding and dilution.
  • Funding instruments and models.
  • Investor mindset.
  • Financial modelling.
  • Pitch training.

NEB pillar – Impact based investing:

  • Impact based analysis.
  • Impact based funding.

Communication, networking and events:

  • Present in front of investors.
  • Invite to NEB and KIC events of season.
  • Cohort closing event and networking.
  • End of programme external communication.

The proposal and the scope of work to be presented should demonstrate the supplier’s ability to support EIT Urban Mobility tasks within the NEB Booster 2.0 acceleration plan, specifically for phase 2 and post-evaluation of the entire programme.

This includes but is not limited to:

Phase 2 – duration: ~ 2 month (September to October 2023 approx)

Business & Entrepreneurship pillar: Traction and go-to-market strategies:

  • Go-to-market strategy.
  • Conversion and pipeline strategy.
  • Leadership coaching.
  • Scalability analysis.

The activities mentioned above will have to be deployed in the form of meetings, workshops, training sessions and/or events that will be carried online and/or in person. The acceleration services will have to be offered both to the whole cohort of 20 start-ups and scale-ups as well as bespoke support (individualised sessions) to each one of the supported companies.

The work also includes:

  • Gathering follow-up feedback from the 20 supported companies for a total of three months after the acceleration services are delivered (end March 2024). The feedback to be gathered is for the entire NEB Booster 2.0 activities and not only for the trainings and mentoring delivered by the provider.
  • Coordinating EIT Community NEB in charge of the NEB Booster 2.0 to align with the other pillars and phases. Includes the type of feedback and methodology to gather feedback from the 20 supported companies about the services received throughout the whole NEB Booster 2.0.
  • Propose to the NEB EIT Community concrete actions to improve the NEB Booster 2.0 programme in the following batch of participants, based on the collected feedback. This includes improvements in structure, agenda, content, speakers and mentors.
  • Having regular meetings with the EIT Urban Mobility point of contact for KIC initiatives and coordinate with the whole EIT Community NEB in charge of the NEB Booster 2.0.
  • Preparing and/or providing support in the preparation of reporting documents including deliverables.
  • It may include traveling if necessary for physical meetings or workshops.

The proposal presented should provide a plan of support, including the approach, structure and timings.
