Home > Request for proposals: Professional training on cyclelogistics for Italian cities
18 September 2023
By the present procurement procedure, the EIT KIC Urban Mobility S.L., hereby being referred to as “EIT UM”, is aiming to identify a supplier capable of designing and delivering a multiannual face to face (F2F) training course on the topic of ‘sustainable urban distribution of goods and cyclelogistics’ in Italy.
Urban freight logistics has economic, environmental and social impacts as cities are confronted with more traffic, congestion, noise and pollution. The objective of the course is to improve the capacity of practitioners and decision makers to design and implement sustainable urban development strategies, products and services for urban distribution of goods based on the concept of cyclelogistics in the context of Italian cities. The aim of the course is to equip the participants with skills, knowledge and tools to develop or adapt cyclelogistics solutions to the urban environment, including elements of operating a cyclelogistics business.
As per the previous chapter, the EIT UM is accepting proposals for the F2F course, which is synchronous, held either online (interactive digital workshop sessions), “on-site”, or in a blended format. The course must be replicable/scalable to be one of the components within the EIT Urban Mobility Competence Hub’s Financial Sustainability strategy, therefore the proposal is to present a detailed business and financial sustainability plan for 2023 (see details in 2.2.).
The supplier will ensure the scope of the course will cover the decarbonisation, reliability, safety, and digitalisation of novel approaches to the urban freight which in this RFP refers to all movements of goods in to, out from, through or within the urban area made by light vehicles.
The supplier will ensure that the course raises awareness and supports development and creation of components of the cyclelogistics solutions system tailored to the context of cities in Italy, encompassing vehicles, infrastructure and services, as well as other elements for operation of a cyclelogistics business. It should also analyse the current situation on the supply side, including governance, infrastructure, and incentives in the given context. Moreover, the course should address digitalisation in urban distribution of goods, focusing on challenges such as how to digitalise the urban logistics supply chain supports, policymaking, and use of data to support business decisions.
Within the scope of this RFP, the supplier will ensure that the course is addressing the solutions in the context of Italian cities, Italian regional and national regulations.
