Bucharest, Romania – EIT Urban Mobility and Regional Development Agency of Centru Region have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The memorandum marks a significant milestone in collaborative efforts and establishes a strategic cooperation to promote innovation in transportation and mobility in Romanian cities.
The memorandum was signed by Traian Urban, Director Innovation Hub East, EIT Urban Mobility and Simion Cretu, General Manager of the Regional Development Agency of Centru Region.
The document defines the overall common objectives, areas of collaboration and the establishment of a monitoring committee to oversee the partnership. This partnership will strengthen the innovation ecosystem in areas relevant to mobility, in line with the priorities of the Smart Specialisation Strategy of the Centru Region.
This collaborative endeavour is envisioned to materialise through the exchange of knowledge and best practices between the two parties, emphasising joint funding as a pivotal mechanism. The Agency possesses the capability to allocate budgets and initiate calls relevant to the urban mobility field. EIT Urban Mobility, in turn, will provide support through co-funding and co-investment, further solidifying the potential for this collaboration to serve as a nucleus for future acceleration and incubation activities in Romania.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed between EIT Urban Mobility and the Regional Development Agency of Centru Region on 10 October 2023 in Bucharest, Romania.
