EIT Urban Mobility nominees for the EIT Awards

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT)  is celebrating 28 entrepreneurs, innovators and graduates from across Europe nominated for the EIT Awards 2020.

This year’s EIT Awards ceremony will be held virtually on 8 and 9 December, showcasing the achievements of successful graduates, entrepreneurs and innovators supported by the EIT Community.

These outstanding innovators have been nominated for their endurance and creativity, recognising their ground-breaking products and services accelerating Europe’s transition to a greener, healthier, and more digital future.

The EIT Awards Nominees 2020

The EIT Awards 2020 nominees show the EIT Community’s diversity, with many backgrounds represented: Belgium (1), Denmark (2), France (1), Germany (5), Hungary (2), Italy (1), Netherlands (2), Poland (1), Portugal (2), Spain (4), Sweden (2), Switzerland (3), and the United Kingdom (2).

The 28 nominees will compete in the following four categories that represent the driving dynamics of entrepreneurship in Europe:

  • EIT CHANGE Award, recognising top graduates from EIT entrepreneurial education programmes (not applicable for EIT Urban Mobility this year)
  • EIT Innovators Award, highlighting teams and individuals that have developed high-impact products and services
  • EIT Venture Award, showcasing start-ups and scale-ups that have benefited from business acceleration and creation support by the EIT Community
  • EIT Woman & Entrepreneurship Award, putting the spotlight on inspiring female entrepreneurs and leaders

EIT URBAN MOBILITY NOMINEES

AI-TraWell, OUR INNOVATION AWARD NOMINEE

AI-TraWell is an Artificial-Intelligence-powered, proactive chat-bot for smartphone devices to recommend personalised Travel alternatives that fit travellers’ needs/preferences and promote long-term health and Wellbeing for all citizens living/moving within our cities. 

AI-TraWell (i) combines users’ needs, preferences, physical and mental wellbeing with real-time and predictive information about all modes of transport to help users to understand and manage the increasing number of mobility options available to them, (ii) selects the option that best matches their needs and preferences, and (iii) delivers better and more reliable mobility services to improve traffic overall. 

VEOMO, OUR VENTURE AWARD NOMINEE

Veomo provides real-time information on large monitors about available mobility at a location, thus offering a modern service, reducing car parking spaces and promoting sustainability.

The new mobility in real time, at a glance. Veomo can be used across platforms and can be used on smartphones and computers without additional software installation.With just one click on the corresponding link, you receive mobility information directly and in real time. 

Veomo makes mobility services transparent and comparable. It reduces commuting stress and ensures relaxed, more productive employees. By using VEOMO, awareness for new mobility services and changes the mobility behavior of our society for the better is raised.

DORINE CORNELIA DUIVES, OUR EIT WOMAN LEADERSHIP & ENTREPRENEURSHIP NOMINEE

Dorine Duives is Assistant Professor Active Modes at the Delft University of Technology.

”Leading the CityFlows team during the COVID-19 outbreak from my attic and still being able to develop the CityFlows product and start-up during these hectic and unsettling times.”

She noticed that crowded pedestrian spaces are often managed based on experience and gut-feelings. She had the feeling that it should be possible to objectify the management of these spaces. The last few years, she has developed tools and algorithms to preemptively evaluate the state of these spaces in order to proactively deploy crowd management measures and ensure crowd incidents are a thing of the past.
