The 3-day Masterclass on the future of mobility takes place in Rotterdam between 29 and 31 March 2023. Applying speculative design and transition management, the Masterclass will focus on exploring different scenarios and strategies for change in the field of urban mobility, challenging most of those old-fashioned and tech-driven imaginaries that dominate the conversations on mobility today (flying cars among them). This event is the result of our ongoing work on urban mobility in European cities and beyond, organised in collaboration with our partner EIT Urban Mobility.
The programme is organised in three blocks, coinciding with the three days that the event will last. The first two days will focus on in-depth case studies using transition management, trend analysis and featuring applied to the realms of public space and urban transportation, featuring guest speakers Alice Haugh, Built Environment Programme Manager at Laudes Foundation and Derk Loorbach, Director and Professor at DRIFT for transition. The third day will focus on bringing theory to practise, using co-creation to critically look at practical applications of all frameworks and tools used throughout the Masterclass. We are currently still adding some great names from the industry to give us insights on the latest trends, and their work on the mobility transition (Dutch Railways, OECD, and many more).
Humankind, is a Dutch agency specialised in complex challenges in the spatial context, with a focus on public space and urban change. Our work addresses how the built environment affects citizens, with projects ranging from consulting and strategy support to Municipalities to speculative proposals about the future of a neighbourhood, a street or the role of youngsters in urbanism today.
