Our City Development & Public Funding Officer, Jordi Casas, will open the event by presenting EIT Urban Mobility’s innovation strategy for cities.
Railway and city: Transformations toward new urban models.
The transformation of mobility resulting from decarbonisation strategies and the liberalisation of rail transport are predicting a boom in the rail sector as an alternative to road and air transport. In addition, the progression of cities towards sustainable urban planning models is creating new opportunities by adapting and developing existing transport infrastructure and capacities. The new sustainable city models require new intermodality solutions, mobility infrastructures, and sustainable urban logistics linked to cities’ economic, business and service development.
The event aims to bring together the ecosystem of cities, private companies, technological agents, knowledge agents and public institutions that offer solutions and services in the field of urban sustainability linked to the railway, to learn about examples of good practices in the field of urban transformation linked to the railways in Europe and to learn about the latest technological innovations in the field of railways in relation to their contribution to new models of sustainable cities.
