Co-funded by EIT Urban Mobility, The LogiSmile project is one of the innovative initiatives to demonstrate the effectiveness of autonomous goods delivery robots, as it allows to reduce costs, polluting emissions and traffic congestion, as well as solve parking difficulties in the city while ensuring flexible, fast and comfortable deliveries. LogiSmile is led by EIT Urban Mobility Innovation Hub South’s gold partner CARNET, VW Group Research and SEAT.
The project also counts with the participation of the City Council of Esplugues de Llobregat and AMB, among other partners in Spain and Europe.
On Friday 10 June 2022, the robot ONA will be tested in a real environment across the streets of the municipality of Esplugues de Llobregat. The Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma), Raquel Sánchez; the Vice-president of Mobility, Transport and Sustainability of the AMB, Antoni Poveda; the Mayor of Esplugues, Pilar Díaz; the rector of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya – BarcelonaTech (UPC), Daniel Crespo, the executive and scientific manager of CARNET, Laia Pagès and EIT Urban Mobility Innovation Hub South director Daniel Serra will participate in the demonstration.
This will be the only test to be carried out in the metropolis of Barcelona and in Spain in a natural environment of an urban area, such as the Can Vidalet neighbourhood in Esplugues de Llobregat.
Later, the Ona robot will travel to Hamburg (Germany) and Debrecen (Hungary), where new tests of the LogiSmile project will be carried out, taking into account the expertise acquired in the Barcelona metropolis.
