Urban Mobility Revolution: How AI is changing our cities

EIT Urban Mobility hosted a closed webinar with journalists from Germany on the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in revolutionising urban mobility. This event highlighted how AI is driving innovations that tackle key challenges such as traffic congestion, pollution, and inefficiencies in public transport, ultimately shaping the future of smarter, more sustainable cities.

Alex Bojeri, Innovation Lifecycle Officer at EIT Urban Mobility, presented insights into the latest AI-driven urban mobility projects involving German partners that are making a real impact in cities across Europe. His presentation showcased how AI is enhancing city transportation systems, creating more efficient, safer, and eco-friendly solutions.

Examples of real-world AI solutions in action were showcased, including:

    • AI-TRAWELL: AI-powered, proactive travel assistant to self-monitor user's experience and craft personalised travel solutions to promote wellbeing.

    • WalCycData: A data infrastructure for vulnerable road users, i.e. pedestrian and cyclists.

    • IPA2X: Intelligent pedestrian assistant to everyone.

    • Karos: Carpooling solution for daily commute in suburban areas.

    • IMAGINEXT: SaaS that combines real-time pollution and traffic information to learn how mobility strategies impact air quality using AI.
