The Valletta Green Festival 2023 is back! With a bang kicking off on 1 Monday f May, we will be opening our largest ever installation in St George's Square. This time, it is not only made out of flowers but also out of trees and other plants as high as 3 meters. In addition, this year you will be able to enjoy our traditional Valletta Green Festival installation not only by looking at it, but by walking inside of it, and perhaps taking a minute or two to sit down and take it all in.
But that's not all! From Wednesday 3 May, Ambjent Malta, ERA, Water Be The Change, Project Green, WasteServ, Eco Market Malta and the EIT Urban Mobility RIS Hub Malta will be joining us in St George's Square and Triton Square to provide educational information, freebies, and answer all of your questions on how you can contribute to make our earth a greener, more sustainable space.
Make sure to visit Valletta between the 1st and 7th of May to join in on the fun, and follow this space for updates! This event is organised by the Valletta Cultural Agency.
During the Valletta Green Festival 2023, the EIT Urban Mobility RIS Hub Malta will offer an immersive experience into the world of sustainable urban mobility within its stand in St George’s Square, Valletta. Visitors will have the chance of rethinking public space thanks to the virtual reality game GoNature, which will project them in the streets of Gzira. There, they will be able to interact with the urban space and envision new green facilities which will benefit the local residents and users of the space. GoNature will be available daily between 12noon-2pm.
Next to GoNature, two bicycles from the MOVE for Trees project will give the opportunity to those who want to burn down some calories to ride a static city bike and track their kilometres! Every 10 minutes of riding will be converted into the planting of one tree or shrub at the Valletta Primary School, in the spirit of caring for one another while keeping up a healthy lifestyle. The bicycles will be available daily between 10.30am-1pm.
More reflections on our urban environment will be offered by the Walk Diary activity, which will ask participants to envision a different space during a community walk. It will start at 11am on 4,5 and 6 May at the EIT Urban Mobility RIS Hub Malta stand, and it will finish about 30 minutes later in the beautiful atmosphere of the Valletta Design Cluster Roof Garden. Very suitable for all the family!
The stand will also provide extensive information on the EIT Urban Mobility RIS Hub Malta, the VARCITIES project and Move for Trees.
