Welcome to a special edition of ‘I have a question for you‘ as we kick off the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which will run until 31 December!
As it could not be otherwise, one of the main topics to work on in these six months will be urban mobility:
“The drive for a more sustainable, resilient, and digital transport always placing people and social cohesion in the centre of politics is one of the pillars to ensure sustainable mobility”, explained Raquel Sánchez, Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, while presenting the priorities of the Spanish Presidency within the Council of Transport Ministers of the European Union a few days ago.
But what role do Public Transport Operators and Public Transport Authorities play in this topic? What are the challenges they face? What are the technologies needed, and what will impact on public transport will be in the next 10 years?
To shed some light on these questions, we’ve engaged in an insightful discussion with the head of Innovation Hub South for EIT Urban Mobility, Maria Paula Caycedo, and industry experts:
- Alfonso Sánchez Vicente, CEO – Managing Director of EMT, Madrid.
- Ana Solá Carreras, Business Developer Grupo DIREXIS/TUSGSAL and CEO of Cinesi (DIREXIS group)
- Manel Villalante, General Director of Renfe´s Development and Strategy
