In the transition to cleaner forms of mobility, understanding the role specific low-and zero-emission technologies can play is crucial to target investments and maximise resource use efficiency.
This study identifies the main use cases for hydrogen in urban mobility, considering aspects such as competitiveness, market size, and investments needed per segment of the value chain. It looks at both the infrastructure and vehicle dimension to estimate the technology’s potential and its contribution to the mobility mix. Using complementary approaches, it highlights three main segments where hydrogen is likely to play a role in the clean urban mobility transition: trucks, buses, and energy storage.
