ABC will create a novel out-of-the-box advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) solution for small and mid-sized bus original equipment manufacturers (OEM) from Regional Innovation Scheme (RIS) countries. The project aims to address their lock-out from the market, due to their limited internal resources for hardware and software development to ensure Vehicle General Safety Regulation (GSR2) compliance. Bus manufacturers will be able to acquire and install AutonomyNow’s validated solution as part of their government approval process. Such solution does not exist currently in the market. Reduced accidents improves OEM reputation and their market position, attracting safety-conscious buyers, such as cities with ‘zero fatalities’ agendas.
ABC will enable greater safety for buses across Europe by reducing the potential dangers resulting from human error, by alerting drivers to potential hazards, encouraging adherence to traffic rules, or even intervening by way of emergency brake, in case of suspected human error or critical contexts. The studies have shown that the expected safety reductions for ADAS ranged from 3-5% up to 30-45%, for serious and fatal incidents. Passengers benefit from a more secure, reliable and safer mode of transportation, removing the risk of participation in traumatic events.

The project aims to enhance safety for pedestrians and cyclists in urban areas by implementing ADAS with AEBS into city buses to meet GSR2 standards and improve the market position of small bus OEMs in RIS countries.
The project aims to reduce the rates of bus-related accidents with pedestrians and cyclists in urban areas.
The project will result in GSR2 compliant city buses integrated with ADAS and AEBS technologies to increase urban road safety.
