In 2019, there were 4,628 pedestrian and 2,777 cyclist fatalities on EU roads. A.D Knight aims to prevent pedestrian and cyclist fatalities and improve traffic safety.
Israeli startup A.D Knight developed a real-time traffic monitoring and accident detection sensing safety alert solution. The solution can be used by municipalities, road and rail operators and provides a visual traffic safety alert to all road users. The solution solves the problem of detecting road users in obscured and low visibility scenarios, based on a novel sensor which detects personal devices such as mobile phones. The sensors measure the personal devices’ positions relative to the vehicle, estimate the road users’ trajectories, and assess road users’ awareness of traffic. The technology uses detection of connected devices via WiFi, Bluetooth, cellular and V2X; has sub-metre accuracy and has multimodal alerting techniques for all road users. Importantly this technology is not limited by line of sight, visibility conditions or weather.
The project was aimed at testing the integration of the A.D Knight solution with the SERNIS PC500 radio-controlled led module as a synchronisation system. The pilot covered three main scenarios: pedestrian ‘jumping’ into the road and walking along, scooter riding on the curb, and scooter ‘jumping’ onto the footpath while pedestrians are present.

This activity aims to prevent pedestrian and cyclist fatalities and improve traffic safety to increase confidence of citizens in active mobility.
This project addresses traffic and pedestrian safety.
The activity has resulted in real-time traffic monitoring and accident detection sensing safety alert solution for municipalities, road and rail operators, as well as a visual alerting unit for pedestrians and other vulnerable road users.
