Travalytics: analytics of employee travel for sustainability reporting

Travalytics: automated collection and analytics of employee travel for corporate sustainability reporting

Project summary

Reporting on carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions within the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) requires trustworthy and reliable data on employee travel. Data needs to be collected and presented in a way that enables companies to set and follow up targets & pinpoint measures to reduce their emissions from travel. No product exists on the market to do this today. Travalytics offers an innovative software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution designed to streamline the reporting of employee travel behaviour, emphasising actionable insights and CSRD and personal data privacy (GDPR) compliance. The process is simple:

(1) Companies place an order online, inputting simple key business metrics.
(2) Employees answer a very short, GDPR-compliant questionnaire through an app.
(3) The app operates hands-off in the background, with algorithms automatically analysing and categorising travel data.
(4) Companies access an online dashboard for comprehensive analytics, including CO2 emissions and physical activity, essential for corporate sustainability reporting.
(5) The data enables companies to take the right tailored actions to improve their sustainability performance. Baseline metrics such as O2 emissions per employee can be benchmarked against other companies. All data is anonymised and aggregated at company/division level, ensuring personal information remains confidential.

Travalytics is built with scalability and integration in mind, with data engineering solutions that enable transferability of data to wider CSRD reporting platforms. Targeted at the European market, the solution places a strong emphasis on scalability and potential for growth. Travalytics is developed as a collaboration between Trivector and Backtick, bringing together expertise on travel data, sustainability reporting and cutting-edge data engineering and AI skills. Tetra Pak is our primary test partner (covered by CSRD), and the Danish Engineers’ Union (IDA) enables feedback and testing with multiple large international corporates based in Denmark.
