English proficiency test waiver

English proficiency tests are waived only for applicants who have completed a degree instructed in English at a university that is physically located in one of the following countries: USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia or New Zealand.

> I have completed studies in English or in an English-speaking country. Why can’t the waiver apply to me?

The EIT Urban Mobility Master’s programmes are designed to conform to the EIT Label, a certificate of quality awarded to excellent educational programmes. Therefore, to ensure consistent and meaningful EIT-labelled education throughout the entire Master School, all partner universities agree on a common and jointly executed admission process.

The above requirements regarding English proof of proficiency have been agreed upon by all partner universities as the highest common acceptable denominator and signed in the Master School Agreement. This ensures that they all respect the same process when selecting applicants.

Although it seems logical and legitimate for applicants who have completed a degree in English in another country than the ones mentioned in the waiver’s list, it remains nevertheless impossible for the Master School to grant any exception. It is a matter of fairness and quality guarantee that we have such English requirements.

> I have previously studied at one of the partner universities and intend to study EIT Urban Mobility Master’s programmes at this university (as entry or exit year). Why can’t the waiver apply to me?

Although this university once accepted your proof of English proficiency, please remember that a different logic is at work when applying for EIT Urban Mobility Master’s programmes. As you know, EIT Urban Mobility’s Master’s programmes are double degree programmes taught at two different universities in Europe, so your admission to our programmes is not solely dependent on one university’s assessment. In addition, since applicants are invited to express several entry/exit preferences, the selection committee evaluates the applications in light of all these choices. Then again, the English requirements agreed upon by all partner universities thus guarantee equal treatment between the applicants, which is why we do not make exceptions to it.

Participation fees per academic year for the EIT Urban Mobility Master’s programmes are listed below.*
